If there's one thing I've learned lately it's this: when you have a craving for a burger it's probably not going to go away anytime soon. It's best to take care of it ASAP. Which is exactly what I did this past Friday night. It all worked out in my favor and I even declared Fridays at our house Burger Night.
I had been craving a burger for a few days--call it hormone induced, call it clean eating for a few days in a row, call it whatever you want to call it but it was what it was and it wasn't going away. It didn't help that on this Friday afternoon I sat down around 4pm and watched Food Network's Burger Bash special hosted by Tyler and staring some of my faves like Bobby and Ina. Dang it, these people know what they're doing. By 5:56 I was riding my bike up to our little town's market for ground beef and ketchup.
I rarely sit down right after I eat to write a post but tonight (it's still Friday as I write this) it's totally worth it. Our burgers were perfect. There's really no recipe to share here --only a strong suggestion: DO NOTHING BUT SALT & PEPPER YOUR BURGERS. Don't mix in steak sauce (sorry Ina, I love you and your house but I went my own way this time) don't mix in garlic, or cheese, or tomato paste. Don't rub them too much. Just salt and pepper both sides and then give them their space.
For the toppings I sauteed a shallot, added some tomato and avocado slices and called it absolute perfection. Burger Night at our house was born. I can hardly wait for next week.
